This year St John’s is celebrating its 44th Annual Horseman’s Sunday on 18 September 2011. The blessing of the horses will take place within a short service on the forecourt of St John’s church in Hyde Park Crescent.
The parade will follow the usual Sunday service, which begins at 10am. And there is even more cause for celebration this year as after five months work the newly refurbished church will be unveiled to the public.
This is one of the most colourful and widely attended events of the year to take place on the Hyde Park Estate. It attracts many horses and their riders that use Rotten Row and Hyde Park, as well as further afield, and is a celebration of horse riding in the heart of London. It also celebrates community life here with stalls, music, refreshments and children’s activities.
So whether it's to raise a glass to another year's horse parade, to get a first look at the new building, the fun of the fair, or whether you're a first time visitor to this historic festival you are very welcome to join in the annual celebration of horsing around in London!
