A great day was had by all at Connaught Village’s summer street party which took place on Thursday 17 June, as the sun shone brightly on Hyde Park’s exclusive retail and leisure quarter.
The event, which celebrated the food, fashion and art that make up one of London’s most charming Villages, welcomed local residents and visitors with a selection of summer festivities that included a food market, a children’s marquee and fashion displays from leading fashion boutiques such as Viola, Weardowney’s Establishment and Me & Em.
Event organisers estimate that over 800 people attended the event during the course of the afternoon and evening. This year’s line up also included live music sets from Welsh band, Under The Driftwood Tree, who created a fantastic festival atmosphere with performances throughout the afternoon from the stage located at the end of Connaught Street.
The Village’s galleries, fashion boutiques, and restaurants all opened their doors late, allowing visitors to enjoy a late night shopping exclusive alongside the summer’s evening entertainment, with many retailers doing offers, promotions and drinks receptions for their guests. With promotions in stores from luxury handbag designer Susannah Hunter, Connaught Jewellers and Me & Em, all tastes were catered for on the day.
Rob Lines of the Church Commissioners comments: “ We are delighted by the success of this year’s festival. There was something for all ages in Connaught Village, from excellent food to children’s face painting, and the live music really added to the festival atmosphere on the day. Everyone’s efforts allowed for a tremendous community spirit in the Village and it was a great day for family and friends.”
Connaught Village is situated in the heart of central London, a stone’s throw from Oxford Street and yet off the beaten track, the Village remains intimate and full of character. With a selection of fashionable boutiques including names such as Jimmy Choo, Me and Em and Viola, alongside wonderful galleries and restaurants, Connaught Village is the perfect mix of general and specialist retail.
