Church Commissioners image

The Church Commissioners play a vital role in supporting the Church of England as a Christian presence in every community. Our investments in property and shares are managed to produce a good return to help sustain the Churchs work.

The Church of England costs over £1 billion a year to run. In 2008 the Commissioners met around £193 million, or one-sixth of this figure, including over £100 million spent on clergy pensions.

We take a long-term view of our property investments such as Connaught Village and have reinforced our ownership in the area through selective purchases and refurbishments.
