A new Indian restaurant by well-known London restaurateur Mr Amin Ali and uber-stylish hairdresser Haute Coiffure, owned by Daniel Mikheal, are set to open in Connaught Village, adding yet more exclusive names to Hyde Park’s retail quarter.
Mr Amin Ali, who is best known for his super-stylish Soho based Indian restaurant, Red Fort, is to take a 1,710 sq ft ground floor unit at 17 – 20 Kendal street for a new restaurant concept, on a 20 year lease at £80,000 pa. The deal was secured through letting agent Briant Champion Long acting for the Church Commissioners. Mr Ali’s second Indian restaurant is due to open in Autumn this year.
The restaurateur, who has also been involved in other exclusive and well known central London restaurants including Soho Spice and Busaba Eathai both on Wardour Street, has a high profile London following including Tony and Cherie Blair, who will be ideally located to enjoy the new restaurant from their London home in Connaught Square.
Haute Coiffure has taken a 772 sq ft unit spread over two floors, on a 15 year lease at £34,000 pa, also secured through letting agent Briant Champion Long, acting for the Church Commissioners. The company will be located at 4 Porchester Place from mid-July 2011.
Daniel Mikhael began his professional training in Paris in 1995 working for the Nicola & Geano salon, where he was introduced to the world of Paris Fashion Week, working on a number of high profile events including Christian Dior and Versace shows. He has since worked on numerous London fashion shoots for clothing brands G-star and Burberry as well as assisting on many London shows such as Marc Jacobs and Christopher Kane. Daniel enjoys a chic client list which has previously included Naomi Campbell, Sue Barker and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
Nick Fowles of the Church Commissioners comments: “We are very excited by these latest signings which reflect our overall strategy to secure unique, one-off retail and leisure concepts that will attract visitors to Connaught Village from all over London and beyond. I am sure that both the new Indian restaurant and Haute Coiffure will successfully complement the existing mix of independent boutiques, cafés and restaurants, already present in the Village.”
Connaught Village is home to a host of independent retailers such as Argentine restaurant Casa Malevo, fashion boutiques De Roemer and Viola, and Royal hatmaker Patey Hats. A short walk from Oxford Circus, and yet off the beaten track, the Village remains intimate and full of character, set within the picturesque Hyde Park Estate.
