Connaught Village welcomes a stylish new tenant this autumn with the arrival of hatters Patey Hats to Hyde Park’s exclusive retail quarter.
With a royal warrant, as well as a heritage dating back two hundred years, Patey Hats is a bespoke hat maker, producing made-to-measure headwear ranging from riding to ceremonial hats, as well as supplying the Royal Chelsea Hospital and Yeoman Warder hats.
The company, which has previously supplied headwear for major Hollywood blockbusters, will be located at 35 Connaught Street W2, where they will begin trading in the third week of September, with their official opening planned for 2 October 2010.
The new shop in Connaught Village will be the first stand-alone retail store for the hat maker, however its workshop which is based in Forest Hill, London, will operate as usual, including offering a comprehensive refurbishment programme.
Patey Hats are proud to promote the traditional craftsmanship used to create their hats – dating back to 1799. This traditional manner uses a Goss body to allow the hat to be shaped to your exact requirements and measurements, thereby creating a perfect fit.
Nick Fowles of the Church Commissioners comments: “ We are delighted to welcome Patey Hats to the Village. The new letting complements the independent, high-end nature of the Village’s current retailers, whilst bringing its own unique style and brand to the Hyde Park Estate’s exclusive shopping location.”
Trevor Campan, Managing Director of Patey Hat Ltd comments: “We are delighted to announce our new venture in Connaught Village as we feel the ambiance and atmosphere of the quarter suits our status as a luxury goods brand perfectly. This, coupled with the excellent public transport links the area offers, made Connaught Village the obvious choice for our new retail premises."
Connaught Village is home to a host of independent retailers such as CocoMaya chocolatier and artisan bakery, fashion boutiques Weardowney’s Establishment and Viola, and luxury handbag designer Susannah Hunter. A short walk from Oxford Circus, and yet off the beaten track, the Village remains intimate and full of character, set within the picturesque Hyde Park Estate.
