Antonio Pacitti

Antonio Pacitti (1924-2009) studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Slade. The quality of his draughtsmanship was recognised by the purchase of one of his drawings by the British Museum, and by the critical acclaim given to Guantanamo, a series of powerful drawings. This, and other works related to war, have been celebrated by the global Charter for Compassion. Pacitti’s creative output was diverse and always experimental. He produced sculptures and ceramics, and gained the award for Graphics and Watercolours at the Malta Biennale. The oils painted direct from nature allowed Pacitti to luxuriate in colour, and to transfer his drawing skills to canvas, with the thrust of tree and bursting of blossom materialising through the energy and precision of his brushstrokes. In recent years Pacitti’s art has been shown in solo exhibitions in Scotland, Bradford, Italy and London.
